In normal everyday situations they seem to be your average boys and men/girls and women with plain outfits, unassuming bearing, and simple appearance - your typical Filipino high school students and hard working OFW's in the UAE. Some of them may look timid, nerdy, and without artistic talents. They could pass of as a friend, a cousin, an acquaintance or even the shy boy/girl next door. Yet give them a moment on the dance floor and that veneer of coyness is shed as they take on a different personality, a confident attitude, and the mindset of professional performers. They attack the stage like warriors, claim it as theirs and turn it into their terpsichorean kingdom and show everyone the unequaled talents and skills they have. They dance, they strut, they groove, they sway to the beat of the music, and they embrace the rhythm of the sounds that accompany them with infinite passion. They share their talent and their passion through performances, giving other dancers an opportunity to learn from.
Switched-off, they are Ian Olvido, Hadji, Gomer, Natz, Bernard, Ceasar, Shane, Shaun, Allan, Jbern, Nanzky, Rodhel, Devon, Ian Cueva, Adrian, Ryan, Jhay-R, Sherwin, Aron, Steve, Prince, Tristan, Rhon, Frankie, Angel, Melva, Meech, Loren, Lucky, Aicka, Jaja(bunso), Antonette, Medlyn, Maricor, & Maycie. Switched on (with their dancing shoes), they become the INFINITE ZERO Dancers!
The Infinite Zero Dancers is a group of males and females (some are high school students while others are already working) whose enthusiasm for dancing is "infinite" and knows "zero" boundaries. They live, breath and sleep for dancing, dance for dance's sake, and dance because they know how to and are good at it. Their dedication to dance and to each other helps create a unique energy that shines on stage and off, providing them with the charisma that they have become known so well… uncontested and uplifting. The group is known for their high-energy, expressive, diverse styles and varied repertoire. And to sum up Infinite zero is all about expression, refined and polished choreography and giving audiences a new experience of urban hip-hop dance.
Think of the funky Maneouvres, the acrobatic Streetboys, the energetic Universal Motion Dancers, the daredevils X10, and the calibres G-Force. They are of the same breed: dancers of intensity, energy and style. The Filipino community in the UAE is sure proud to have a home-grown talent like them for local shows.
It all started when ABS-CBN Middle East looked for back-up dancers for the TFC Showdown of the Champions in Dubai concert last March 2005. Andy Minodin, ABS-CBN Middle East Marketing Manager, went to UIPS to audition more than 30 hopeful kids from the said school. Six boys and six girls passed the test and got to perform with the Champions at the Dubai Tennis Stadium at the Aviation Club. From then on, the boys/girls, itching with enthusiasm, were all determined to continue dancing. Step by step, they have gotten "dancing engagements" as fast as their funky moves. They have performed in all weekly elimination rounds of the TFC Pop Star Search 2005, danced in the FDC-Dubai's Inter-DI Competition, did some acts at Chikka Grill Filipino Nite Club, electrifies and energized their one of a kind performance with Randy Santiago, Agot Isidro, Erik Santos and Rachel Alejandro at the TFC Pop Star Search 2005 Grand Finale at Al Wasl Stadium, Dubai, did a great performance during the CELEBRATION OF THE PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY 2005/ABS-CBN TFC NITE w/ numerous dance numbers as back-up dancers of the singer actress Ms. Nikki Valdez and actor Mr. Dominique Ochoa held at Al Nsr Leisureland, Dubai, and with great pride as they loudly screamed with their dynaMIGHT performance during the CHIKKA GRILL DANCE EXPLODE 2005 with the H2O band, Rapper Alvin and guest performers Mr. Luke Mejares and Viva HotBabe Ms. Andrea del Rosario at Crown Plaza, Dubai, Official Back-up dancers of TFC Pop Star Search 2006 held at Al Nasr Leisuraland Dubai, Ai-ai De Las Alas Concert at Al Nasr Leisuraland Dubai, The Other Side Concert of Miss Sarah Geronimo 2007 at Dubai Tennis Aviation and at National Theatre of Abu Dhabi, with special Guests Mark Bautista & Ai-Ai.
The group is lucky to have their master choreographer, IAN OLVIDO, who dedicated a good amount of his time and efforts in their rehearsals wherein he conceptualize dance moves and selflessly teach the steps and routines to his younger members. Ian is popularly addressed by his subordinates as "kuya IAN" or "manong".
The Infinite Zero performs to almost any kind of music, from techno to hip-hop and from rave to retro sounds and tries to incorporate all forms of dances in their routines like street jazz, tribal/ethnic, funk, urban punk, breakdance and modern. The group members have just finished level one of the Upward Bound Team Building activities conducted by the Talent Bank at the Golden Tulip Resorts in Abu Dhabi and are scheduled to undergo the basic dance clinic of the Filipino Dance Club-Dubai in their pursuit to know more and become better with their chosen craft. They believe that as dancers they need to be educated and updated with all kinds of dances to help them as individuals and as a group.
The Group conducted a week of trainors/choreographers' workshop in preparation for a future event (Dance Concert). They are now expanding their group not only in Dubai but to other emirates as well. With the help of Shane a member of Air Dance Phils who's expertise are breakdancing and acrobatics, Shaun a theatre arts/contemporary character and Hadji the guy behind the walls of strut, popping and lockings contributed a lot to start a new era of urban dance styles in the UAE. They conducted series of workshops on different dance forms tagged as URBANIZED!
To infinity and beyond, Infinite Zero is here to dance life away.
